Miss Diva Cosmo 2025 Avani Kakekochhi recently visited the Atijeevan Foundation in Bengaluru, where she met survivors of LPG leak accidents and heard their deeply moving stories of survival, recovery, and rebuilding their lives. The visit offered her an opportunity to understand the challenges they faced and highlighted the importance of spreading awareness about fire safety and emergency preparedness.
During her interaction with the survivors, Avani listened to accounts of fear, uncertainty and recovery, gaining insight into how a lack of awareness about the right steps to take during an emergency can have serious consequences. The conversations reinforced her belief that fire safety education must reach households before an accident occurs.
This is where Project Suraksha holds significance for Avani. The initiative aims to take LPG fire safety awareness into homes, helping people recognise potential warning signs and understand how to respond during an emergency. An important part of this message is remembering 1906, the LPG emergency helpline number, so people know where to seek assistance when they need it. Avani also witnessed the strength and creativity of the residents through their livelihood initiative. The handmade products Atijeevan created under Ebaas reflected their efforts to build skills and create livelihood opportunities.
During her visit, Avani highlighted the importance of spreading awareness about LPG fire safety and ensuring people have the knowledge to respond during emergencies. Her interaction with the residents of Atijeevan Foundation also reminded her of the importance of community support, awareness, and opportunities for individuals to rebuild their lives.
